We have been closely following COVID-19 and it’s impacts on our industry. According to the current advice, snorkelling and SCUBA diving can remain as a safe and enjoyable activity during these times, as long as basic hygiene precautions are followed. So luckily for us, it’s back to business (almost) as usual!
STAYING SAFE: BASIC PROTECTIVE MEASURES WE’RE TAKING AGAINST COVID-19
HYGIENE
All our staff and customers are expected to follow basic hygiene rules including washing of hands and use of hand sanitiser. We have posters in store explaining how to wash your hands and use hand sanitiser effectively. We have hand sanitiser available at stations in our store, classroom and common areas and a mobile COVID kit which is taken with us to our outdoor locations containing hand sanitiser, disinfectant, wipes and sanitiser.
USE & CLEANING OF RENTAL GEAR
All of equipment is cleaned according to industry standards and Cover regulations to ensure our equipment stays safe.
This includes sanitising:
- Second stage / Regulator mouthpiece (we also regularly change the mouthpieces)
- Masks
- Snorkel
- BCD inflator
- Wetsuits
We will also have disinfectant wipes, sprays and sanitiser available for any customers that wish to clean their own equipment prior to use. If it makes you feel more comfortable, customers are welcome to bring their own sanitising wipes to use when you rent equipment.
All of our gear is tagged and numbered, so each student will be allocated a set of equipment for the duration of their course. Students will wash their own equipment at the end of each session. Our staff will then do a further wash down at the completion of each course or activity.
Anti-fog is also supplied so please no spitting in your mask! 😛
REFRESHMENTS
For the time being, we are not able to provide refreshments, therefore we recommend that everyone brings with them a reusable water bottle and refreshments or money for refreshments.Â
On courses you will be given a lunch break and directions to where you can purchase food if you have not brought your own.Â
On our boat trip individual lunch packs will be supplied by a local supplier, included in the price of the trip.
IF YOU ARE FEELING UNWELL
If you have booked a dive course or activity and develop symptoms prior to your arrival, it is important that you do not attend the premises, please let us know by phone and we will postpone your course or activity. It is then advised to contact a medical professional.
If you begin to develop symptoms during a course or activity, please notify a staff member.
STAFF
All of our staff have undergone the Australian Government Department of Health ‘Infection Control Training – Covid 19’. We also have a Covid-safe plan in place which all of staff members adhere to.
Remember, exercise, sun and salt water is good for your health and immune system so if you are feeling fit and healthy, we would love to see you learning to dive, refreshing your dive skills or taking a course with us.
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing you all in the water!
